Why subscribe to ski insurance when renting equipment?

As with most optional insurances, the same question comes back: why pay extra for a service I probably won't need? But it's when you really need it that you regret not having subscribed. This is also true with ski insurance, because you are unfortunately not safe from having the rented equipment stolen on the slopes or in your holiday accommodation, of having to suddenly cancel your stay or even shorten your trip... And in this kind of situation, it can cost you a lot if you are not insured.

Especially since subscribing to Ekosport-Rent ski insurance won't weigh down your budget: it will cost you 2 euros per day per rented equipment for an adult or a child.
In other words, if you come for a week to the mountains with your family, with 2 adult and 2 child equipments, you will only have to pay 48 euros more in total: a very affordable price for more peaceful winter sports holidays!

What are the guarantees of Ekosport-Rent ski insurance?

Before subscribing, you probably want to know the guarantees included in the insurance contract. They are divided into 3 categories:

  • Theft and breakage of equipment, with the cost of replacement or repair covered by the insurance.

  • Stay cancellation: cancellation fees are refunded if you cancel before the first day of rental.

  • The stay interruption: if you have to shorten your stay (for reasons outside the contract exclusions), the insurance reimburses unused rental days and unconsumed services (pro rata).

This cover thus allows you to insure yourself against major risks directly related to your ski reservation. To get all the details on what is covered, on guarantee exclusions, on maximum reimbursement amounts and on deductibles, you can consult the insurance contract.

How to get insured when renting online?

Subscribing to our ski insurance couldn't be simpler, as it's offered to you at the same time as online rental. Simply check the corresponding box for each item of equipment rented: practical and fast!
The amount of the insurance is then added to the total to be paid for the reservation of your equipment. You can then pay for your rental online in full or in part using flexible payment, by credit card (Visa and Mastercard), Paypal or ANCV cheque.
You will then be automatically insured for the entire duration of your rental. In the event of a claim, you will need to contact the insurance company immediately and provide all the documents required for processing.

What about ski insurance offered with packages?

In addition to the guarantees offered by equipment rental insurance, you can take out another type of insurance during your mountain vacation. This is the coverage offered with your ski pass, which may include the following guarantees:

  • Coverage for rescue intervention in case of an accident on the ski slopes (off-piste generally not covered);

  • Coverage for medical and hospitalization expenses;

  • Reimbursement of cancellation fees for your holiday accommodation;

  • Reimbursement of unused pass days following the accident;

  • Reimbursement of ski lessons not taken after the accident;

  • Repatriation of the insured person, or even the entire family;

  • Pro-rata reimbursement of the pass in case of closure of ski lifts due to lack of snow or bad weather conditions, etc.

The events covered vary from one resort to another, and there are sometimes several formulas available. So take the time to compare contracts before subscribing. Also check any guarantees provided by your bank card, by your civil liability, by your home insurance and by your "life accident guarantee" contract, to avoid duplication.
