Ski locker: the practical and secure solution for your equipment
One of the reasons skiers choose equipment rental, is to avoid having to transport skis and accessories on the way to their holiday destination, whether by car or public transport. But wouldn't it be even more practical not to have to transport or store them at the holiday destination? For this, there is the ski locker, a service available in some of our Ekosport-Rent sports stores!
Ski locker: what is it about?
The principle of ski lockers is very simple: it allows you to store the rented equipment (or your own equipment) in a locked locker, of which you are the sole holder of the key or code. You can thus leave it overnight in a secure place, and even during the day if you wish to do other activities than skiing or snowboarding.
Several Ekosport-Rent rental shops offer this solution, to be selected during online rental or reserved by phone. As places are limited, it is advisable not to wait until you arrive at the resort to request a ski locker.
This type of service is most often paid, costing a few tens of euros per week, with variable prices depending on the size of the lockers (designed for 2, 3, 4 pairs of skis or more), the number of lockers reserved, and the store's pricing policy.
Why opt for ski lockers with equipment rental?
To relieve you of all logistical constraints and fully enjoy your ski trip, the ideal is to be able to leave your skis at the foot of the slopes and to not clutter your holiday accommodation with the equipment. The ski locker meets these requirements, with 3 major advantages:
No need to transport your equipment from one end of the resort to the other: ski shops, and their lockers, are most often located at the foot of the slopes or in the main streets of the resorts. They are therefore easily accessible after a day of skiing and allow you to pick up your equipment a stone's throw from the ski lifts the next morning.
No storage problem either: skis, snowboards and boots can take up a lot of space, which is sometimes lacking in small holiday apartments, and since they are often wet, this can quickly become inconvenient for hygiene reasons in your accommodation.
The equipment is safe: since the equipment is in a locked locker, the risk of theft is largely minimized and no one risks taking your equipment by mistake.
Before booking your locker, don't hesitate to check the possibilities offered by your accommodation. In tourist residences, hotels and sometimes even in gîtes, you often have secure lockers, either paid for or included in your reservation.
Ski locker or storage: which is the best option?
While ski locker service is a paid service, the ski storage is free, or offered at a lower price. If you have a tight budget, it's a good compromise to store your skis and free yourself from transport constraints.
On the other hand, your equipment will be in a common room, often within the store itself. You will therefore be dependent on the opening hours of the shop to drop off and pick up your equipment. But generally, ski shops open at the same time or a little before the ski lifts open, and close around 7 PM.
It's up to you to weigh the pros and cons of each solution, as long as both services are available. Indeed, some rental shops only offer one or the other service.
