One of the reasons why skiers choose equipment rental is to avoid having to transport skis and accessories during their holiday journey, whether by car or public transport. But wouldn’t it be even more convenient not to have to transport or store them at your holiday destination? For this, there’s the ski storage service, available in some of our Ekosport-Rent sports shops!
The concept of ski storage is very simple: it allows you to store the rented equipment (or your own gear) in a locked locker, for which you are the sole holder of the key or code. You can leave it there overnight in a secure location, or even during the day if you wish to take part in other activities besides skiing or snowboarding.
Several Ekosport-Rent rental shops offer this solution, which can be selected during online rental or booked over the phone. As spaces are limited, it’s recommended not to wait until you arrive at the resort to request ski storage.
This service is usually chargeable, costing a few dozen euros per week, with variable rates depending on the size of the lockers (designed for 2, 3, or 4 pairs of skis or more), the number of lockers reserved, and the shop’s pricing policy.
To free yourself from all the logistical constraints and fully enjoy your ski holiday, the ideal solution is to leave your skis at the foot of the slopes and avoid cluttering your holiday accommodation with equipment. Ski storage meets these needs, offering three major benefits:
Before reserving your locker, don’t hesitate to check the storage options available at your accommodation. In tourist residences, hotels, and sometimes even in guesthouses, secure storage facilities are often provided, either for a fee or included in your booking.
While ski storage is a paid service, free ski storage is free of charge or offered at a lower price. If you’re on a tight budget, it’s a good compromise to store your skis and relieve yourself of transport burdens.
However, your equipment will be stored in a shared room, often within the shop itself. You’ll therefore be dependent on the shop's opening hours to drop off and collect your gear. But typically, ski shops open around the same time or a little earlier than the ski lifts and close around 7pm.
It’s up to you to weigh the pros and cons of each solution, provided both services are available. Indeed, some rental shops only offer one or the other of these services.
