Ekosport-Rent helps you see more clearly with advice for 3 typical categories of vacationers:
- the family with 2 children looking to control their budget

In summary

Choosing your ski equipment depends on the skier's profile, level, practice, and budget. For a family, blue, red, or black packs allow equipping adults and children according to their experience. Experienced skiers can opt for black, Diamond, or Premium packs, as well as freeride, freestyle, or touring skis. For a couple of occasional skiers, blue, red packs, or mini-skis offer different levels of comfort and technicality. With the Multiride option, Ekosport-Rent also allows changing equipment twice during the stay. Discover our recommendations for choosing your ski rental.

2 adults, 2 children and a budget to respect: recommended rental packs

Going on a family ski trip and looking to equip everyone? Looking for the most suitable equipment to ski peacefully together? But do you have a defined budget for your vacation? Don't worry: here are our recommendations for renting the equipment that suits you without breaking the bank.

Ski packs for adults

If you are a beginner skier, the question of equipment does not arise: you will have to opt for a blue ski pack. It's perfect for learning to ski and it's the cheapest pack in the rental range.

However, if you have already skied, and if you plan to ski with your family on green, blue, and possibly red slopes, two main options are available to you:

  • Red ski pack, which offer a good compromise between tolerance, precision, and affordable price. They are perfect for skiing at moderate speeds on less technical terrain.

  • Black ski pack, more performing and grippy, but also more expensive. To be preferred if you are planning committed ski sessions without the children during your stay.

Ski packs for children

If you have a child aged under 6 years old, the choice is easy: you should turn to Baby skis, specially designed for young children aged 2 to 6 or under 1m20.

If your child is between 7 and 12 years old, head to the Junior category. If they are beginners, there is no need to opt for the most expensive skis: rent the blue ski pack. However, if they already master the basics, prefer the red ski pack, so as not to hinder their progress and ensure they enjoy themselves.

For children aged 13 and over, go to the Teen category. It is often divided into « red skis » and « black skis ». The price difference between the two ranges is quite small: it's up to you to decide based on your teen's level and the type of terrain they plan to explore.

Good to know: if you are coming on a ski holiday with a young child who is not yet able to ski, be aware that some shops offer the rental of sleds, pushchair sleds and strollers for your stay.

Group of experienced skiers who want to have fun: recommended packs and the Multiride option

Are you coming to ski in a group with friends and are you rather good skiers? Do you want the best to fully enjoy your descents? And why not, do freeride, freestyle or freerando sessions? Here are the options we recommend when renting at Ekosport-Rent.

Alpine skis for experienced skiers: black, Diamond or Premium pack

If you have a good level and want to make the most of all the slopes, opt for one of the following packs:

  • Black skis : versatile, responsive and grippy, these are skis halfway between models for progression and high-end models. They are very suitable for people who have a good level, but who do not need the latest technologies and who are looking for a interesting quality/price ratio.

  • Diamond skis : performance-oriented skis, these are high-end models, associated with stiffer "performance" boots. This is the ideal pack for experienced skiers who want to have fun.

  • Premium skis : the very best, with skis selected from the latest models, equipped with the latest technologies. They are perfect for those who want the must-have ski of the season.

Skis for ancillary disciplines: freestyle, freeride and ski touring

With your group of friends, do you also like to go off-piste and get a lot of thrills? Then head to an Ekosport-Rent store that offers "Free & Rando".

You will find the ideal equipment for non-alpine skiing practices there:

  • Freestyle skis : light and twin-tip models, which will accompany you on snowpark modules.

  • Freeride skis : wide skis, with good flotation capacity, to explore powder fields.

  • Ski touring skis, for climbing without ski lifts and enjoying a moment with friends away from the crowd.

  • Freerando skis, to go on an adventure in untouched areas.

The Multiride: the perfect option to vary pleasures

In your group, do you like groomed slope descents as much as powder skiing? Would you like to do some freestyle sessions during your stay? Do you want to be able to change equipment to adapt to snow conditions? The Multiride option, available when renting online, is made for you!

Specifically, by paying for this option online, you can exchange equipment twice in store, for a minimum 6-day rental, at no extra cost. The exchange is made with a model of lower or equal category.

Thus, to avoid unpleasant surprises at the time of exchange, remember to rent the highest category model when booking online. For example, if you rent a pair of Diamond skis, you can exchange them for any equipment (except Premium skis). However, if your initial rental concerns freestyle skis, you can only exchange them for alpine skis up to black level, mini skis or a snowboard. Consult the Multiride table complete to find out what exchanges are possible.

Casual skiers couple: the ski packs to prioritize

Planning a romantic mountain getaway and not an experienced skier?

Depending on your level and budget, 3 main options are available to you:

  • blue ski pack: the ideal pack if you are making your first descents or if you haven't skied in several seasons;

  • red ski pack: the pack for intermediate skiers, recommended for adults who master the basics of skiing and want to progress, without necessarily looking for the most performing skis on the market;

  • mini skis: the short version of alpine skis, for a more playful glide, which requires fewer technical skills.

These ski equipments are among the essentials that you will find in all our Ekosport-Rent stores. You can therefore choose any resort where Ekosport-Rent is located to rent this type of equipment.
